Information on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

University Correspondence

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

International and national information about SARS is available from newspapers, radio, television and the web. A Commencement Health Advisory was recently sent to all students, faculty and staff by email and up-to-date information is available on the Carnegie Mellon home page. In addition to these sources of information, I would like to meet with members of the campus community to explain in further detail the preparations we are making for graduation, our plans for summer school and early thinking as we look ahead to the fall, all as they relate to SARS. We also want to talk about other practices and procedures that have been established to cope with SARS. Finally, we want to answer your questions and learn from you potential problems and issues we will need to consider. Many meetings have been planned to insure everyone can attend, regardless of their schedule. We look forward to meeting with you.

Meetings have been scheduled for:
Monday, May 12
11:00AM, 1:00PM, Rangos 1&2
Tuesday, May 13
9:00AM, 11:00AM & 1:00PM, Rangos 1
Wednesday, May 14
9:00AM, 11:00AM & 1:00PM, Rangos 3

So we can be fully informed and plan accordingly, if you are aware of summer programs attracting participants (students or faculty) from Asia (mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam) and Toronto, Canada please inform me by sending email or calling. Based on the best information available today, there are no plans to curtail summer activities.
