Gary J. Powers Educational Computer Lab

The departmental computer lab was established in 1991. It was set up as a collaborative computational workspace for students and researchers.

In 2013 the computer lab was dedicated in the memory of Professor Gary J. Powers who passed away suddenly several years ago. Gary was extremely dedicated to education and learning, especially on the undergraduate level, and he often visited with students in the computer lab. His commitment to education and learning is truly legacy that has touched the lives of many students.

The computer lab was named  the “Gary J. Powers Educational Computer Lab”, and in addition the Center for Advanced Process Decision-Making (of which Gary was member) committed $25K in Gary’s honor towards much needed upgrades.

Over the years many companies and foundations have donated to the lab to ensure that students continue to have the top of line equipment available to them.

Past contributors include: Dell, Intel, Air Liquide, and the CAPD
