Ask Gemini to Interact with Your Email, Calendar, and More
Computing Services recently enabled Gemini extensions, expanding the selection of AI-powered tools available to faculty, staff, and students.
What are Gemini extensions?
Gemini extensions allow you to interact with core Google Workspace apps, like Mail, Calendar, and Drive, directly from the Gemini app (gemini.google.com). Here are a few ways you might use them:
- Find information from Gmail
- Summarize documents from Drive
- Add and show your tasks from Google Tasks
- Create and show your notes and lists in Google Keep
- Create, find, and edit your events in Google Calendar
Are Gemini extensions secure?
When you log in to gemini.google.com with your Andrew userID, your data is safe! Google will not use your prompts and responses to train its AI models.
Always review sources
Gemini can hallucinate responses or provide outdated information. Always review the sources listed after the response to verify for accuracy.
Enable Gemini extensions
- Visit gemini.google.com and log in with your Andrew userID and password.
- Click Settings, then click Extensions.
- Click the slider to enable Google Workspace extensions, and then click Connect.
After enabling extensions, you can ask Gemini for specific information from other Google Workspace apps, like Mail, Calendar, and Docs. For example, you may ask Gemini to summarize the content of your unread emails or create a calendar event.
