A space for imagination
Collaborative. Cerebral. And always creative.
All three are hallmarks of Carnegie Mellon, and there may be no space on campus as uniquely qualified to serve up all three than the JPMorgan Chase & Co. AI Maker Space in Tepper Quad.
The space, which was dedicated in late 2021 and fully opened to students the following spring, give students — any of them, regardless of major or academic background — the chance to stop by and, well, play. After some introductory training, students are turned loose in the space with the latest AI tools and technology, just to see what they can come up with.
The space is supported by JPMorgan Chase & Co., which founded its AI Research program to explore how technology can predict and affect economic trends, stop financial crime, protect data and improve ways customers interact with businesses. The 2,000-square-foot facility gives students access to robots, drones, smart appliances, virtual- and augmented-reality devices, and high-end computers.
