A Week in the Life of a Student at Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley-Silicon Valley Campus - Carnegie Mellon University

Student Life at Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley

During the academic year, our graduate students can be found on campus at all hours of the day and evening.  Whether it is a full-time student, on campus early in the day for a Research Assistantship meeting, or a part-time student, burning the late hours away on a phone bridge during one of the evening team meetings, you'll find the campus a bustle with classes, activities, team meetings and social events.

Full-time students have a combination of day and evening classes, that usually run Monday through Friday.  In between classes, there are team meetings, ping-pong tournaments to be won, faculty advisors to meet with, and no one likes to miss Rock Band Fridays!

Part-time students usually arrive on campus around 6:30pm, and stick around for classes, team meetings, meetings with coaches and faculty members, and of course, just hang out and socialize.  Classes are typically held on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, with team meetings scheduled on other nights of the week.  Weekends become busy as well, as deliverables (class assignments) tend to be due on Saturday or Sunday, and students will come to campus to meet with team mates and finish up last minute tasks.
