Young Scientists Tested Water Quality at Phipps Conservatory
Aspiring scientists entering grades 4-6, armed with test tubes, laboratory equipment and safety goggles, collected and analyzed water samples at the aquatic gardens next to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens building this past Monday, Aug. 1. The Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students (C-MITES) hosted a daylong workshop "Chemistry and Analysis of Water" to expose students to environmental research, laboratory equipment and careers in science.
