Bio

Yian (Michelle) Bian is a goal-oriented pioneer, with an enthusiastic to optimization or new patterns to achieve final goal. She graduated from McGill University in 2023 with a major in Finance and minor in Statistics. During her undergraduate study, Yian gained a solid foundation in finance and statistics, and developed a passion for the application of statistics and mathematics in financial problems. She conducted a programming-based financial analytical project; she used decision tree and regression to classify data with different sectors using CPI and IP index and tried to put forward a corresponding trading strategy. She also participated research on trend-following strategy on Chinese commodity market, where she simulated the strategy and tested the perform on real data of more than 20 commodity, and the paper was finally published. Prior to joining MSCF, she joined Bosch China as an intern, and handled most of the system optimization job with a result of 12% cost down by reducing freight and replacing manual work. Through these experiences, she strengthened her leadership, teamwork, and also her interest in quantitative finance. At MSCF, Yian aspires to enhance her quantitative skills and financial insights and can further applied these into real market. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in quantitative research, portfolio analytics or asset management.
