Bio

Jianlin (Isaac) Chen graduated from University of Southampton with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance. Before joining the MSCF program, he has finished four quantitative research internships at some of China's top financial firms including a Top-4 hedge fund, a Top-3 investment bank, and a leading proprietary trading firm. These internships gave him a well-rounded experience in multiple domains, such as alpha research, factor mining, back-testing, portfolio management, system development, as well as machine learning application in stock markets. Additionally, he has extensive experience in Machine Learning and NLP. He collaborated with notable academics like Prof. Tong Zhang (founding director of Tencent AI Lab with an h-index of 104) and Prof. Daniel McCarthy on a range of machine learning projects. His research contributions in ML include two papers submitted to the Journal of Machine Learning Research and EMNLP (Top-3 conference in NLP), as well as a highly-regarded GitHub project that has garnered 280 stars. Jianlin joined the MSCF program to continue developing his quantitative skills and gain more networking opportunities within the field. Upon graduation, Jianlin plans to pursue a career in quantitative research, portfolio management, or quantitative trading.
