LEED Buildings at Carnegie Mellon

As of 2000, Carnegie Mellon's objective with new construction on campus is to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification with the target of Silver rating. This green building rating system is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. The New House residence hall is the first building on campus to meet the requirements of certification. Also, the completely renovated Henderson House, Posner Center, and the Collaborative Innovation Center, are designed to meet LEED criteria.
