Important News About the IECM

To the IECM User Community,

We wanted to let you know that the management and maintenance of the Integrated Environmental Control Model (IECM) is being moved from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to the University of Wyoming (UW). However, this will not affect your free access to the model or to any future updates. The only visible changes will be in the email addresses for correspondence with the IECM team, and the website address for the model.

Effective October 5, 2022, any correspondence you receive from us via our mailing list will have a "uwyo.edu" address rather than the "andrew.cmu.edu" address you've seen in the past.

Similarly, the email address for contacting us will change to "iecm-team@uwyo.edu". However, any messages sent to the current CMU address will automatically be re-routed to the new address, so you need not worry about it getting lost.

Sometime in the next few months, once the model and all documentation have been transferred to UW and thoroughly tested, the website address for the IECM also will change to a uwyo address. We will notify you when that happens. However, the current CMU address will be automatically re-routed to the new address, as will the alternative address, <www.iecm-online.com>. So again, you need not worry about losing access to the model.

We have been planning these changes in anticipation of my retirement and transition to Emeritus professor at Carnegie Mellon this year. My longtime colleague, collaborator, and IECM Project Manager, Professor Haibo Zhai, who is now at the University of Wyoming, will take over responsibility for further development and maintenance of the model, which will have continued support from DOE/NETL as well as other sources. Karen Kietzke, who has served as Research Programmer for the IECM for the past 29 years will continue in that role at UW, and I will remain involved as an advisor to the project. Additional UW graduate students and research staff will fill out the IECM team going forward.

We look forward to staying in touch with you as we complete this transition.

Sincerely,
Prof. Ed Rubin,
for the IECM Team
