Associate Manager, Business Development and Licensing

Bio

Erik joined CTTEC in 2022.  He helps manage the protection and commercialization of CMU intellectual property.

Erik was introduced to technology transfer while attending law school at Arizona State University.  He completed an internship at the university’s intellectual property management arm and went on to work with the organization in a consulting role.  As a law student, he also participated in the patent clinic program, where he helped entrepreneurs secure patent and trademark rights.

Prior to coming to Carnegie Mellon University, Erik served in an of counsel position at a law firm, where he assisted with patent prosecution.

Erik is a registered patent attorney who holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and a J.D. from Arizona State University. In addition to being licensed to practice law in Arizona, he is also registered to practice before the USPTO in patent matters.
