School of Music Hosts Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra In Residence
PSCO to perform at Kresge Recital Hall and the Jewish Community Center July 22-24
Under the direction of conductor Andrés Cárdenes, the Dorothy and Richard Starling and Alexander C. Speyer Professor of Music, the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra will perform two concerts at Carnegie Mellon's Kresge Recital Hall and the Jewish Community Center in Squirrel Hill, July 22-24. The Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra will be in residence at Carnegie Mellon.
The first Carnegie Mellon concert will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. Consisting entirely of Mozart pieces, the concert will feature Cárdenes on viola with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra violinist Christopher Wu in Mozart's "Sinfonia Concertante." The second Carnegie Mellon performance will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 23. The final portion of this three-piece concert will include Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons." Tickets for these concerts are $15 for the general public and $10 for students and Carnegie Mellon affiliates.
In addition to Cárdenes, these concerts will include Carnegie Mellon faculty members who are also members of the PSO: Isaias Zelkowicz, David Premo, Jeffrey Turner, Cynthia Koldo DeAlmeida, Scott Bell, Michael Rusinek and Nancy Goeres.
The third installment of this concert series will be held in Squirrel Hill at the Jewish Community Center's Katz Performing Arts Center. This Saturday, July 24, concert will feature Gershwin's "Lullaby" and Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons." The concert begins at 8 p.m. Ticket are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
