Auto-Migration Diagrams

Review the auto-migration diagrams to get a better understanding of how your website elements will display differently when you transition from v4 to v5.

1. Logo and Sitename: Your v4 logo graphic will not be migrated to v5. Your Site Name will be migrated automatically, and will appear at the top of every page in v5 and will be linked to your homepage. If you would like to retain a logo, you can optionally upload a graphic to the logo field (dotted line area) in your v5 setup block. If you choose to use a logo, please remove your unit name from the graphic first.

2. Primary Navigation: The primary (red text) navigation in your v4 site will be migrated to the top navigation and side navigation in v5. The top navigation is limited to 10 primary navigation items, but any primary navigation items beyond the 10 item limit will appear in the side navigation. All child navigation items of both primary and secondary navigation will appear in the side navigation

3. Secondary Navigation: The secondary (dark grey/black text) navigation in your v4 site will be migrated to the side navigation in v5. It will appear directly below your primary navigation. All child navigation items of both primary and secondary navigation will appear in the side navigation.

4. Header Navigation: All header (dark grey/black bar with white text) navigation in your v4 site, will be migrated to the first column of the red footer grid in v5.

5. Header Image: Your header image from v4 will be migrated to the top of the Content area in v5. Note: If you used multiple header photos on one page, only the first photo will be migrated to the Content area. There's a hero image in v5, so you may choose to remove your current header image and add a larger hero image.

6. Address Area and Footer Links: Content from the Address/Contact area in your v4 site will be migrated to the footer of your v5 site. Footer links from your v4 site will be migrated to the second column of the red footer grid (if you have Header Navigation items) or to the first column of the red footer grid (if you do not have Header Navigation items).

7. Breadcrumbs: Breadcrumbs will stay above the content after auto-migration.

8. Page Heading: Each page title will stay in the content area after auto-migration.

9. Page Content: Each page's content area will stay in the content area after auto-migration.

10. Callouts: Each page's callouts will stay in the same area, now called a Sidebar, after auto-migration. The content will remain the same, but the background color may change as the template's color palette has changed. You'll have the opportunity to adjust the background color of each sidebar during your site review. You should review your call-outs to ensure they aren't duplicative of the side navigation (in desktop view).

11. Contact Information: In v5, all contact information will be migrated to a collapsible "Contact" pane which appears just below the Name, Title, and Photo areas.

12. Bio Content Fields: Bio, Education, Research, Projects, Publications, and Custom Bio Information will be migrated and appear below the Contact fields.

10. Names: In v4, names were listed to the left of each row of photos. In v5, names will appear superimposed on each photo.

11. Photos: In v5, photos will appear in a 4 column grid; you may optionally adjust the number of columns during your site review period. Photos will also appear larger in v5, so you may consider uploading higher-resolution photos during your review period to achieve optimal display quality

Story Content & Photos: In v4, News Article images could be placed in a variety of locations (in the Summary, inline with the story, etc.) All images will be preserved after auto-migration, but their location may vary and you may wish to adjust their position after viewing the results. Images that are inline in the Main Content area in v4 will remain inline with the content in v5. The image in the Main Photo field in v4 will float right at the top of your story in v5.

10. Stories, with or without summary images:In v4, you could choose to display an image beside the story title and date by adding it to the Summary field. In v5, all stories will be displayed in a Grid format with photos included (if available).
