Frequently Asked Questions About the Tepper School Part-Time On-Campus MBA

Part-time students attend classes at the Tepper School two evenings a week, year-round, for 32 months. There are additional elective classes offered during the day. Because the curriculum is the same for every format, part-time students share some classes with full-time students.

For added flexibility, part-time students may also enroll in online MBA classes. 

There is no difference. All formats adhere to the same core curriculum taught by the same world-renowned faculty.

While we’re known for our rigorous curriculum, we welcome students from varied professional and educational backgrounds who have a motivation to learn and a desire to gain the analytical and leadership skills that the Tepper School MBA program offers. When we admit you, we know that you have what it takes to succeed while continuing to excel in your career.

We are mindful of the fact that you are a working professional. The Part-Time On-Campus MBA program is structured to fit into the life of a working professional.

You will attend class two nights each week. For core courses, you will have two classes per evening, with each class lasting approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. For electives, you will have one class per evening, with that class lasting approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. Beyond time in the classroom, you can expect to spend about 2-4 hours per week on assignments, readings and group projects.

How much time is required will depend on your background and comfort level with the material

Yes. We offer exemption exams for many of our core classes. If you pass the exam, then you can take an elective in its place that will better fit your academic and career goals.

Yes. Our part-time MBA students have access to the same Career Opportunities Center as full-time students. You’ll have access to industry-specific career coaches, career-related workshops, preparation programs and on-campus recruiting opportunities

Yes. Part-time students have full access to the Accelerate Leadership Center, which provides a personalized leadership development assessment, one-to-one coaching, a certificate program and a personal leadership roadmap. Our coaches work with you on the key leadership qualities and behaviors that lead to career success.

Our part-time on-campus MBA students also have access to mentoring opportunities with local business leaders.

From your first days together at BaseCamp orientation, you’ll become part of a supportive and collaborative culture with other professionals from diverse backgrounds. Our small class sizes encourage more personal interactions between classmates.

Part-time students are vital members of the full Tepper School community and share many experiences with the full-time class, like winter formal and the International Festival.

You’ll want to check with your human resources department, but many of our students take advantage of their company tuition remission or reimbursement program to help fund their education. Since our program covers three calendar years, you may be able to use three years of benefits to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Our Financial Aid office is available to answer your financial aid questions.

Yes. Scholarships of up to $15,000 are available to be awarded to part-time MBA candidates. Candidates are considered for scholarship at the point of admission, are notified at the time of admission and are not required to provide additional information.

Yes. Because the curriculum is exactly the same across all of our MBA formats, you can switch to the full-time program, and you won’t miss a beat in the transition. After finishing the first year of core classes, students may transfer to take advantage of an internship opportunity or to speed up the time to graduation.
