Get to Know Amber

"After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 with a BS in Chemical Engineering I spent five years working in the oil and gas industry in PA, WV, and OH. During the first two years of my career, I managed day-to-day drilling operations -- eating, working, and sleeping on-site in a trailer for 2-week stints.

"That bubble burst in 2015 and try as I did to get out of O&G, I landed at an engineering firm doing pipeline design for oil and gas projects. After nearly three years with the engineering firm, I started thinking about getting my MBA, but I put it off when I got a fresh start in a new job. I began to work at a chemical plant in Pittsburgh, finally escaping the ups and downs of oil and gas. After only a year in my new job I decided an MBA was still the right move for me to climb the corporate ladder, especially coming from a more operational/manufacturing role. I currently reside in Philadelphia, PA after moving to a different chemical plant within my company in January of 2021."

"I chose Tepper for several reasons; I wanted the flexibility to keep working to reduce the burden on my finances, I wanted to go to a school with an excellent reputation, but I think most importantly I wanted to get the same opportunities that full-time students had."
