Get to Know Umer

"I was born and raised in Pakistan where I completed my undergraduate education in Social Sciences with a minor in Economics. I founded two startups, a web-hosting service provider, and a digital marketing agency before transitioning to Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University for a Master’s in Public Policy & Management (MSPPM). Prior to Tepper, I was working at a non-profit historic preservation organization in Pittsburgh, PA. As a project manager, I led an $11.5 million 33-unit, scattered-site, affordable project for people of low-to-moderate income housing.

"I joined Tepper to transition into a career in technology-centric consulting. I chose Tepper in particular because of its analytical approach and emphasis on skill-based learning. The Tepper MBA program is distinct since it covers facets of business, technology, and consulting. The school is comfortably nested at the center of technology, robotics, and AI which is something I am passionate about. Moreover, as an entrepreneur myself, I was drawn to the tremendous resource and opportunity that the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at Tepper offers!

"In my free time, I love to travel, explore social entrepreneurship opportunities, trade equities, and cryptocurrencies. Pittsburgh is my second home. I have lived in different neighborhoods for the past 9 years and can help answer questions about housing in addition to any questions you may have."
