INFORMS Selects Tepper Ph.D. Student for Service Award

In recognition of her service to the INFORMS student chapter at Carnegie Mellon University, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences has selected Neda Mirzaeian, Ph.D. student in operations management, for a Judith Liebman Award.

INFORMS created the Judith Liebman Award in 2016 to celebrate student volunteers they call “moving spirits.” It is named for longtime INFORMS Board of Directors member Judith Liebman, Professor Emerita of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“It means a lot to me that INFORMS selected me for this award,” Mirzaeian said. “I’ve enjoyed working with the organization and leading the student chapter.

Mirzaeian is president of the CMU INFORMS student chapter and helped to organize the second-annual YinzOR Student Conference this fall — a single-track conference for doctoral students in operations research to connect with their peers and present their work. She is the second consecutive CMU INFORMS chapter president recognized with a Judith Liebman Award, following Thiago Serra (Ph.D. 2018), who received the award in 2016.

She received a certificate and letter of congratulations during the INFORMS annual meeting in November.
