Tepper School to Honor Prominent Alumni at Reunion Weekend

Each year during Reunion Weekend, the Tepper School recognizes exceptional alumni for their outstanding service and professional achievements. This year’s ceremony will take place during the All-Class Reunion Celebration at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 21.

“Our awardees are among the most remarkable and most generous alumni that I have had the pleasure of connecting with,” Dean Robert Dammon said. “Their service to the school is unparalleled. I am proud to recognize them as exemplary models of Tepper School alumni.”

Alumni honored this year also represent significant supporters of the upcoming Tepper Quad. “It speaks volumes that our alumni are so invested in the future of the Tepper School,” John Sengenberger, executive director of Alumni Relations, said. “We are incredibly grateful to these alumni for remaining actively engaged with the school, and I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at the Alumni Award Ceremony at Reunion.”

David Coulter, MSIA/BSIM ’71
Lifetime Achievement Award

David Coulter will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his distinguished career in financial services and his storied resume as an adviser to Carnegie Mellon University and the Tepper School of Business.

“I am humbled to be receiving this award,” Coulter said. “I’m proud to be a member of this community and to have the ability to help guide Carnegie Mellon in this exciting time in its history.”

Coulter is a special limited partner of Warburg Pincus LLC, a private equity firm with an active portfolio of more than 150 companies. In his time at Warburg Pincus, he has served as vice chairman and as managing director and senior advisor of financial services investment activities. He also served in many roles at Bank America Corporation, including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and held several senior positions at JP Morgan Chase including serving as a member of the Office of the Chairman.

Coulter is currently co-chairing the Tepper Quad fundraising campaign and serves on the University Board of Trustees and the Tepper School’s Business Board of Advisors. Coulter and his wife, Susan Weeks, have been generous supporters of the Tepper Quad campaign and made a gift to name the University Welcome Center in the building.

Gunjan Kedia, MSIA ’94
Alumni Achievement Award

The Tepper School’s Alumni Achievement Award acknowledges one alumnus each year who has demonstrated notable professional accomplishments. This year’s honoree is Gunjan Kedia, who has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, now serving as vice chairman of Wealth Management and Investment Services at U.S. Bank, the fifth largest commercial bank in the United States.

Among Kedia’s professional successes is the distinction of being one of the youngest consultants in McKinsey & Company to make partner. She later held senior roles as executive vice president at both Bank of New York Mellon and State Street before joining U.S. Bank.

Kedia is also a committed volunteer for the Tepper School and a member of the Business Board of Advisors. She and her husband, Tepper School professor, Dr. Sridhar Tayur, Ford Distinguished Research Chair, professor of operations management, are generous supporters of the new Tepper Quad.

“The new Tepper Quad is a key step forward into the future of business education,” Kedia said. “It was so important to us to contribute toward and be a part of the quad. I am eager to participate in the next phase of growth.”

Devin Anderson, MBA ’05
Alumni Service Award


Devin Anderson, Managing Director and Head of Solution Sales in Equity Derivatives at Deutsche Bank, is being recognized with the Alumni Service Award which acknowledges an alumnus who has demonstrated a commitment to serve the Tepper School community.

Anderson has proven to be an indispensable asset for Tepper School students seeking jobs in the financial industry. He has given significant time to serve as a mentor for students completing internships at Wall Street companies, and he frequently meets with students one on one to help them prepare for interviews. He champions Tepper School alumni at Deutsche Bank and along with co-captain Dan Bergad runs a series of mentorship, intern prep, trading competitions and career coaching programs for incoming graduate hires.

“My time at CMU changed the trajectory of my career and my life – I’m honored and privileged to return that experience to our students,” Anderson said. “Tepper graduates come to the bank with a differentiated skill set. Our program supports them through the internship and initial phases at the bank. Its unbelievably rewarding to meet students as freshman or sophomores and help them grow into productive analysts and associates at the firm.”

After receiving his MBA, Anderson was hired as an associate at Deutsche Bank, where he quickly built a strong career in financial markets and derivatives. He has spent many years as the Tepper School’s primary recruiting contact for Deutsche Bank and has launched the financial careers of many MBA, MSCF and undergraduate alumni.

Michael Miller, MBA ’11
Recent Alumni Service Award


The Recent Alumni Service Award acknowledges an individual who graduated from the Tepper School within the past 10 years for their exceptional service to the school. This year’s award will be given to Michael Miller, a highly engaged alumnus who has frequently volunteered for admissions service, recruiting efforts and alumni activities.

“I’m glad there are so many opportunities to give back to Tepper,” Miller said. “The connections I made with my classmates and faculty have been personally and professionally rewarding. I hope to continue my relationship with Tepper for decades to come.”

Miller has built a strong career at Amazon, creating, building and growing successful $1B+ categories at the company including Renewed, Handmade and Wine. He now serves as a Business and Technology Director leading the transformation of the Worldwide Consumer business though the invention of a new business model and associated technology. In addition Miller manages the Amazon Exclusives business and Brand development venture group.
