Study Design 1

...compares outcomes or gains from two or more learning conditions across different groups of students during the same semester. Each student does NOT experience every learning condition. For example, different sections of the same course, taught by the same instructor, may experience different teaching strategies (e.g., “treatment” vs. “control” or “condition A” vs. “condition B”). Assignment of students to conditions may be random or not (quasi-experimental). Regardless, one must assess and account for any pre-existing differences among groups of students.
