Janet Lawler, PhD Teaching Consultant, Postdoctoral Contact Janet

Dr. Janet Lawler joined the Eberly Center as a Postdoctoral Teaching Consultant in 2022. In addition to consulting with faculty, postdoctoral instructors, and graduate instructors, she facilitates seminars and contributes to ongoing projects in order to support teaching excellence in higher education. 

Janet earned her PhD in Politics from the University of Virginia, where she taught a wide range of courses in political theory and was recognized with a Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award in the Social Sciences and Education and an All-University Teaching Award. She has also worked in the University of Virginia Writing Center and in the University of Virginia Center for Teaching Excellence where her research and workshop design focused on teaching strategies for controversial content, democratic teaching practices, and listening to student voices to promote inclusion.
