AI/ROBOTICS STARTUPS! APPLY TO PITCH AT INNOVATION WORKS/CMU VENTURE SHOWCASE BY APRIL 16
Top VCs and angels investing in AI and Robotics will be in Pittsburgh looking for the next great deal. This one-day showcase for AI and Robotics startups will be held on May 23, 2018. Early response has been extremely strong from local and national investors who want to hear pitches and meet with companies. Each participating company will receive five minutes to present to the group, an opportunity to have one-on-one meetings and to network with investors.
There are only 15 spots available and the application process is competitive. A selection committee is made up of representatives from CMU, Innovation Works and investment and industry experts.
If you have an AI or Robotics startup and are interested in participating, apply by Monday, April 16, 2018.
HARDWARE CUP INTERNATIONAL NEXT WEEK!
Don't miss the 2018 AlphaLab Gear Hardware Cup International Finals on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 5:30 PM at the Ace Hotel in East Liberty.
The Hardware Cup is a global pitch competition for early-stage physical product companies. At this event, six startups from all over the globe will compete for their shot at the $5K grand prize, and you'll have the chance to meet many more companies, check out their products and network with the best and brightest in the entrepreneurial community.
AlphaLab Gear is partnering with IEEE to bring two keynote speakers to the event, addressing the topics of culture, diversity and inclusion within the startup community: Dr. Judith Williams, the former head of Global Diversity at Dropbox, and Kelly Hoey, serial entrepreneur, investor, author and Forbes' “1 of 5 Women Changing the World of VC/Entrepreneurship.

Founded by CMU alumni and Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellows Nick Bartel and Hayden Cardiff, Idelic is a software provider focused on safety and operations in the trucking industry. Its flagship product, SafetyBox, allows safety managers and their teams to automate compliance processes, integrate systems and gain valuable insight and analytics on their drivers, terminals and overall operations.

NYCRIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR PHASE 0
The NYC Regional Innovation Node (NYCRIN) is still accepting applications for research teams and companies to participate in one of their Summer or Fall bootcamps for SBIR Phase 0. The Phase 0 program will support eligible teams and companies to participate in the 7-week National Innovation Corps session so that they can better prepare for an SBIR Phase 1 award. There are four options for the Summer bootcamp and three options for the Fall.

INTERNSHIP AT STARTUP IN THE SPACE INDUSTRY
CubeRover, an internationally recognized planetary robotics and exploration platform, is seeking summer interns with engineering, technical product management and brand marketing experience. The interns will work for 12-16 weeks assisting with the design and development of the CubeRover platform. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing careers in the space industry.

RE2 ROBOTICS SEEKS A CONTROLLER
RE2 Robotics, founded by CMU alumnus Jorgen Pedersen, specializes in research and development of robotic systems for DoD and emergency responders. The core focus at RE2 is in modular manipulation systems. The RE2 staff consists of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers focused on developing products that can be fielded to our soldiers and emergency responders to enable safer and more efficient operations that can ultimately save lives.
RE2 has an opening for a Controller to handle the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, revenue and cash projections, maintenance and more.

BACK-END ENGINEER FOR RISK MANAGEMENT PLATFORM
VIT, an IoT enterprise risk management software that helps companies get out of the dark ages of using paper and pen solutions, is hiring a back-end engineer to help further develop its Arc sensor platform. Co-founded by CMU alumnus and CEO Andy Chan, VIT’s Arc is a cloud-enabled, IoT platform used by supervisors to help reduce operational risk and keep employees healthy.

The company uses natural language processing and machine learning to turn unstructured terms, conditions and words into structured data and insights. LaunchFarm APPS, LLC—SUMMER INTERNSHIP/ PROJECT
A summer internship is available with LaunchFarm Apps, LLC, a company founded by Rob Phillips and Bill Hinchey (GSIA ’86) to create a sports-based social network. After its creation, a mobile and web version of Steel City Buzz (SCB) was launched to connect Pittsburgh sports fans. The app is robust and includes features such as dynamic chat rooms, four simultaneous content feeds, profanity filters and a reward program.
Ideal candidates should have a background in new product development, mobile/web development and an interest in social networks.

76WEST CLEAN ENERGY COMPETITION
The 76West Clean Energy Competition is a competition for clean energy startups and is structured as a $20M investment over four years. Cleantech startups from around the world are invited to apply to this unique competition, which takes place in the Southern Tier Region of New York State. The six most promising startups are awarded $250K to $1M in prize money and granted access to business and technical resources. Learn more and apply by April 16, 2018.
