CMU UNDERGRADS! APPLY FOR A SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (SURF)


The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program awards $3,500 to undergraduates at CMU for 8-10 full-time weeks of summer research in any field of study. Apply by March 23, 2018.

Summer Fellowships - $3,500
Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) are open to all undergraduates interested in any form of research. 

Summer & Fall SURG
Small Undergraduate Research Grants (SURG) are open to all undergraduates (freshmen and seniors) in any discipline. Grants are available of up to $500 for single entries and up to $1K for group entries to cover the cost of supplies and materials, time on laboratory equipment or travel to another city for data.

LIGHTSPEED VENTURES SUMMER FELLOWSHIP

PIONEER LECTURE SERIES AT CMU: BUILDING A TECH BUSINESS – UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL 

CMU's School of Computer Science (SCS) and the Tepper School of Business have introduced a series of lectures in conjunction with the course, 15-390 Entrepreneurship for Computer Science. This new series,  led by noted CEO's and pioneers in the computer science industry, will occur weekly on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. during the Spring 2018 semester.

TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIALIZATION INITIATIVE RFP 

Innovation Works is announcing an application cycle for its Technology Commercialization Initiative (pdf).  It's one of the few programs that will fund tech development, as distinguished from business development.  Companies (including startups) will be funded up to $40K through a convertible note1:1 match is required, however can be cash, in-kind etc.

The areas of interest are:

• Robotic Technologies
• Advanced Electronics
• Advanced Materials
• Life Sciences (primarily electronic devices & assistive technologies)
• Information Technologies

Applications are being accepted for the Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs Accelerator, powered by Techstars.

Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs’ is on a mission to cultivate founders and teams who are serious about developing the next generation of media, entertainment and connectivity companies. Over the summer, Comcast NBCUniversal announced  LIFT Labs for Entrepreneurs of which the accelerator is but one part. This exciting program will start in July 2018 and take place in Philadelphia.
