Marvin Yu, Ph.D.
A life sciences professional for over 25 years and currently a business consultant at the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center and Co-Founder & CEO of MS2 Array LLC, a technology-empowered drug discovery company, Marvin has experience in large Pharma and small company settings. As a business consultant he assists innovation-based startups in various activities including business planning, SBIR/STTR grant funding, customer discovery, brainstorming, and other activities to help those startups succeed.
He has served as PI or co-PI on seven different SBIR/STTR grants including two Phase II grants for both the NIH and NSF providing a wealth of experience in writing, securing, and managing successful grants from both agencies. He has also assisted other businesses in submitting grants with other funding agencies such as Dept of Defense and Dept of Energy and been awarded several Innovation Partnership microgrants.
Trained as a synthetic organic chemist his educational background includes a B.S from MIT, a Ph.D. from Emory University, and postdoctoral studies conducted at the University of Pittsburgh. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications and patents
He has also served for 10 years on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center.
