There is ample opportunity for children to learn and grow at Carnegie Mellon - and many of those activities are held during the summer! Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences
The Pennsylvania Department of Education established the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) to provide a summer enrichment experience in science and math for talented high school students in Pennsylvania. The program hopes to encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. After a brief hiatus, the program is returning to CMU's Mellon College of Science. CMU Engineering Workshop
This program aims to show rising high school 10th and 11th graders what engineers do and what it is like to study engineering in college. Students will get hands-on experience using engineering software to design products and will then fabricate them in a CMU maker studio. They will also learn about different engineering disciplines through guest speakers and tours of CMU engineering labs. Summer String Workshop Program
Carnegie Mellon's School of Music offers a Summer String Workshop for children ages 7-14. Eligible students who register by April 30, 2017 will improve their skills by attending daily classes and recitals and perform in a final concert. Students must be able to read notes fluently, and previous group or ensemble experience is highly recommended. For more information and to apply, visit the Summer String Workshop Program website.
Architecture Explorations (AE)
