We know that many Ph.D. students are facing major obstacles to conducting their research in light of COVID-19 shutdowns.  Now is the time to begin work on writing your introduction or literature review chapter; work on a conference paper, journal article or presentation on research you have already conducted; or to begin writing job application materials in preparation for an academic job search.  Communication Support has prepared materials to help you:

  • A Canvas course on Dissertation writing.  The course currently has modules on envisioning the structure of the dissertation, writing your introduction, and writing a literature review/review of research.  A Humanities specific module is on the way and new resources on writing style and structure will be added throughout April.
  • Workshops on writing a cover letter for an academic job search
  • Zoom tutoring appointments: Many of our consultants are Ph.D. students themselves or are CMU writing instructors.  We are ready to help you with your conference papers, journal articles, dissertation papers, and oral presentations.  We think the Communication Support program is one of the best resources in the nation for helping STEM researchers communicate their work.
