I feel like every person counts. It is a bit like voting, you might feel like “I am just one person – what does it matter?” but if everybody thinks that way, nothing will change. I feel the same about sustainable living and valuing the environment. The littlest thing makes a difference. If you talk to five friends and get them interested, then they talk to five friends and you’ve made a difference. The power to reach people in a university setting is tremendous. I believe we are at a crisis now. We can still turn things around, but there’s only a tiny window of time. Designers have so much power at their fingertips. I believe our students are realizing that there is a huge opportunity for them to do things that will have a tremendous positive influence.
