I have worked at CMU 7 years

I work with the Media Services team in Computing Services. When on campus we are generally involved in with Audio-Visual support of live events across campus. That can range from simple projection assistance to a full production with speakers, microphones, cameras, etc. My job is to help coordinate between our customers and our technicians to ensure the events run as smoothly as possible.
Since campus has shifted to a hybrid system of classes events has largely moved to zoom and our team has followed. We now offer extensive zoom hosting support and continue to adapt to support the needs of our customers.

During my term, I would like to see Staff Council represented as widely across campus as possible. My hope is to not only be able to provide input into the direction decided by the council I also hope to be able to report back to my colleagues.

Fun Facts About Me

In short, I accidentally shut down an International Costa Rican airport. In a previous job I worked for a study abroad organization that leased a cruise ship. Between fall and spring semesters we would use the ship for traditional cruises. Typically my job was IT support from the home office inland but in this case I was supporting the first half of a cruise around the Caribbean. (lucky me!)
Costa Rica was the last port for 1st leg passengers and the first port for the 2nd leg. Our staff traveled with our fellow passengers to the airport to escort them to check-in. At the same time the 2nd leg passengers were arriving at the same airport and we were assisting to escort them to buses that would take them to the ship.
My flight was the next morning and I would be staying in a nearby hotel overnight. The hotel wasn't accepting check-ins until later that day and I mistakenly left my bag unattended at the departure location while I was stationed at the arrival location. It wasn't until there was a long delay between flights did I realize anything was wrong. When I went back to my other colleagues I realized my bag was gone and they informed me that airport police confiscated it and all flights were delayed because of it!
I received a VIP escort into the security offices and found my bag completely opened and all the contents around the room. Thankfully there was nothing dangerous found and I avoided any trouble. I certainly learned my lesson that Costa Rica is serious about the "do not leave your bag unattended" rule.
