Sustainability Committee Chair
Environmental Coordinator, Facilities Management and Campus Services
At CMU for 30 years.
I work in Facilities Management and Campus Services, managing the waste & recycling contracts and recycling initiatves for the university. I coordinate the Scotty Goes Green Office Certification Program and work with student interns to improve campus recycling and waste reduction processes. I Co-Chair the Green Practices and the Staff Council Sustainability Committee's which both provide guidance and networking opportunities for campus environmental initiatives.
During my term, I would like to see Staff Council continue offering opportunities for our campus community to become more aware of ways to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and become more efficent and less wasteful in our day to day work practices.
On receiving the news of being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, 2004 Wangari Maathai;
“It is evident that many wars are fought over resources which are now becoming increasingly scarce. If we conserved our resources better, fighting over them would not then occur…so, protecting the global environment is directly related to securing peace…those of us who understand the complex concept of the environment have the burden to act. We must not tire, we must not give up, we must persist.”
Something people would find surprising about me: I like to play Pokemon Go.
