Potluck Held to Watch World Cup Game

On Tuesday, June 15, soccer fans gathered to watch the FIFA World Cup soccer match between Brazil and North Korea on big screens in a multi-purpose conference room. MS Software Engineering student Cejana Maciel, from Brazil, worked with the Student Affairs office to organize the informal potluck. Cejana noted, “These activities always provide good interaction between students and faculty and staff at CMU. It’s an opportunity to share conversations and experiences.”

Students brought in delicious treats to share while rooting for their favorite team. Cejana thought the Brazil versus North Korea match was a good way to bring students together since Brazil is a well-known soccer team and it would be an exciting game to watch. Brazil won the match 2-1. Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley welcomes student-initiated activities that build community on campus.
