Ritsumeikan University Faculty and Students Visit Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley

On Friday, September 24, Professors Hideyuki Takada and Nobuhiko Nishio of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan visited the Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley campus with eight of their research graduate students. Prof. Takada's primary research is in the areas of creative learning environments, mobile and distributed computing. Prof. Nishio's primary research is in the areas of ubiquitous computing, wearable computing, and secure computing.

As part of the exchange, the CMUSV faculty and graduate students presented their research in disaster management, SmartSpaces, the HyperWall, and Overseer. Estelle Dodson, from NASA's Lunar Science Institute was another invited speaker. She spoke on the subject of technology for "virtual institutes."
