New Admit Reception Welcomes Incoming Students

On the evening of June 18, 2009, Carnegie Mellon’s Silicon Valley campus welcomed over 60 newly admitted students and their guests for a reception. The event was an opportunity for the new students to visit the campus, meet the faculty and staff, and get to know their fellow classmates.

Sylvia Leong, Director of External Relations and Admissions, kicked off the event by welcoming the incoming class along with their families and friends. Dean Pradeep Khosla was also on hand to introduce Martin Griss as the new Director of Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley and Associate Dean of the College of Engineering.

“We were very pleased to see such a sizeable and excited group at the reception. The high caliber of students enrolled in our programs will undoubtedly initiate and cultivate some very thrilling endeavors, “ stated Griss.

The faculty and staff are very excited to welcome, this fall, one of the largest classes enrolled since our campus was open in 2002. Through the development of new full-time and bicoastal options with the Pittsburgh campus and the expansion of our existing programs, we anticipate that Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley will continue to grow and inspire the innovative ideals of the university as well as the surrounding community.
