Personal Mention

Edmund M. Clarke, FORE Systems University Professor of Computer Science and of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was among 179 of the nation's most influential artists, scientists, scholars, authors, and institutional leaders who were inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences at a ceremony in Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday, Oct. 1. Clarke was joined in the ceremony, including the traditional signing of the Book of Members, by such participants as singer-songwriter Paul Simon, David Page, renowned geneticist and director of the Whitehead Institute at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Nobel laureate and chemist Ei-Ichi Negishi of Purdue University.

Professor of Violin Cyrus Forough is performing and teaching in Florida this week, along with staff pianist Sung-Im Kim. Their itinerary includes stops at the University of Miami, Lynn University and at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Ft. Myers. 

Jack Mostow, research professor at the Robotics Institute, plays Sir Roderic Murgatroyd in the Pittsburgh Savoyard's production of Gilbert & Sullivan's comic opera "Ruddigore," Oct. 14-23 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall in Carnegie, Pa.
