Eight Carnegie Mellon Alumni Are Nominated for Emmy Awards

EmmyNominations for the 2011 Emmy Awards were announced last week and among them are eight Carnegie Mellon alumni and an honorary degree recipient. They are:

  • Douglas Huszti (A'94) for Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series for his work in "Boardwalk Empire";
  • Eugene Lee (A'62) for Outstanding Art Direction for Variety, Music or Nonfiction Programming for his production design in "Saturday Night Live";
  • Kristen Merlino (A'05) for Outstanding Art Direction for Variety, Music or Nonfiction Programming for her work on the "83rd Annual Academy Awards";
  • Noah Mitz (A'05) for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series for his lighting direction in "Conan";
  • Ann Roth (A'53) for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special for her costume design in "Mildred Pierce";
  • John Shaffner (A'76) for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series for his production design in "The Big Bang Theory" and "Mike & Molly";
  • Ann Shea (A'80) for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series for her work as a set decorator in "The Big Bang Theory" and "Mike & Molly";
  • Bernard Vyzga (A'76,'78) for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series for his production design in "Rules of Engagement";
  • Robert Dickinson, a 2005 honorary degree recipient, for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special for his lighting design in the "83rd Annual Academy Awards" and "53rd Annual Grammy Awards."
