How do I change my tax option? Email Julie Stephenson to change your parking deduction tax option.
How do I cancel my payroll deduction for a parking permit? If you are retaining your parking permit but wish to pay directly for your permit and cancel your payroll deduction, payment for the remainder of the year can be made at one time via cash, check, or credit card. If you are canceling your parking permit, you will need to surrender your active hang tag and parking cards for the payroll deduction to be canceled. Please contact our staff accountant, Julie Stephenson with any other questions regarding your payroll deduction.
What if I need to change my vehicle information? Please email the parking office with your new information. Provide the year, make/model, color, plate number and the state issued.
I am not a permit holder currently, but wish to be on waitlist for AY17-18. How do I sign up for the waitlist? Complete and email a parking application, or visit our office in the East Campus Garage for parking options. There is no guarantee you will receive a parking assignment; however, our office will contact you by email if a parking permit is available.
How often is the waitlist reviewed, and how will I be notified if I've been assigned a permit? The waitlist is reviewed on a consistent basis and spaces are allocated as space becomes available. You will be contacted via the email you provided on your application.
What lots are available for a student permit? Student permits can be purchased for 4700 Fifth Avenue, the East Campus Garage, Greek Quad, Second Avenue (PTC), and Clyde Street only.
I am interested in switching parking locations. How do I change my selection for AY17-18? You can switch locations by adding your name to our waitlist by contacting us or stopping in our office in the East Campus Garage.
What happens if I decide to cancel my parking in the middle of the year? Do I receive a refund or will I be charged for the entire year? You can decide at any time to cancel your parking permit. To cancel, please visit our office located on the first floor of the East Campus Garage Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or send an email to our office. You will be removed from both the parking and payroll database once we are in receipt of your gate card and hang tag. If you've paid for your permit for the entire year, you will be refunded for the remaining months. All cancelled permits must be accommodated with proof of purchase in order to have your refund processed. Refunds are prorated at one-half a month for permits returned before the 15th of the month, and a full-month charge for any time after the 15th of the month. If your permit is returned on the 1st day of the month, you will not be charged for that month.
What happens if I forget by hang tag? If you forget your hang tag, please visit our office to purchase a temporary hang tag for $3.00. If you've lost your hang tag, a replacement hang tag can be purchased for $15.00. Please remember that open surface lots require hang tag display at all times.
I have a handicap state-issued placard, how do I get a handicap parking space on campus? Faculty and staff should contact HR's Equal Opportunity Services Division at EOS@andrew.cmu.edu Students wanting to obtain a handicap parking space should contact Catherine Getchell, Director of Disability Resources for assistance. Parking & Transportation will receive the necessary paperwork, and once you are granted a handicap space, you should display both the state-issued placard as well as the CMU-issued handicap hang tag.
Can someone else pick up my hang tag? Yes. Email authorization to the person who will be responsible to pick up the hang tag, and they can present the email to the P&TS staff as proof of consent.
I have more than one car, can I get an additional hang tag? Only one hang tag is issued per permit.
I have received an email about a permit, but I did not apply. What does this mean? The email was sent to all campus ANDREW ID email users. Please disregard if you did not apply.
What is a subcompact car? A subcompact car is an American term for an automobile with a class size smaller than a compact car usually not exceeding 165 inches (4,191 mm) in length, but larger than a microcar. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a passenger car is classified as subcompact if it has between 85 cubic feet (2,407 L) and 99 cu ft (2,803 L) of interior volume. Makes and models of classified subcompact cars include Honda Fit, Chevrolet Sonic, Kia Rio, Ford Fiesta, Mini Cooper, and Toyota Yaris.
