Bio

Jim grew up on a farm in Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a BA in Sociology, completed requirements for an MA in sociology from Washington University in St Louis, and graduated from Garrett Theological Seminary in Chicago with an MA in theology. After 6 years directing a children’s home and Methodist Mission project in SE Kentucky, he moved to Pittsburgh where he was Director of Operations for the Family Planning Council of Western PA. In that role, he supervised 53 clinics in 23 counties. He then became Associate Director of the Health Systems Agency of SouthWestern PA. When that was defunded by President Reagan, he started and operated a business brokerage firm for 35 years - selling and valuing over 1,500 businesses.

Jim is a runner with over 350 5Ks, 10Ks, and 27 marathons. He enjoys reading, Osher classes, and theatre. He has ushered for Pittsburgh Public Theater for 33 years. He is active in the First Unitarian Church of Shadyside and is a volunteer at Family Hospice in Lawrenceville.

Mark Weiner

Mark Weiner

Mark Winer was born and raised in Pittsburgh. He stayed in Pittsburgh and earned a B.A. in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Political Economy from Carnegie Mellon University. After graduating from CMU, he taught in Public Policy Departments at the University of British Columbia and the University of Maryland. He was an executive at PNC Bank and Fannie Mae before retiring and moving back to Pittsburgh in 2016.

Mark is an active runner, cyclist and hiker. He also volunteers with various neighborhood improvement non-profit organizations.
