For International Students
Once an F-1 student begins their post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) or STEM extension of OPT, they should receive an email from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) regarding the SEVP Portal. The portal may be used to report changes to home address, telephone number and employer information.
Students on Post-Completion (12-month) OPT may also submit updates using the MyOIE Portal. It takes a minimum of 5 business days to process a request, once it is received.
- If you are within the dates on your EAD card: Login through the MyOIE Portal -- Limited Services site and complete the “Report Post-Completion OPT Employer” e-Form Detailed login instructions can be found here.
- If you are NOT within the dates on your EAD card: Login through the MyOIE Portal -- Full Client Services for Students & Scholars and complete the “Report Post-Completion OPT Employer” e-Form. NOTE: You can only submit this form if you have received your EAD card.
Students Who Received an SEVP Portal Email
If you received the SEVP Portal email from firstname.lastname@example.org, you have 2 weeks from the date the email was received to report your information or you risk being locked out. View Frequently Asked Questions to find out what to do if you have been locked out of the portal.

Students Who DID NOT Receive an SEVP Portal Email
The following must be true in order to receive the registration email: Your OPT is approved and you have received your EAD, your OPT has started (i.e., your start date is not in the future) and your email address is in SEVIS. If any of these things are not true, you cannot access the portal at this time.
Additionally, double check all of your email accounts and your spam/junk folder. Emails were sent to the address reported to OIE.
