Greetings, Students & Scholars!
Make it a November to remember! The end of the semester is right around the corner, but there's no end to the events happening on campus or in the city. Whether you are looking to start your winter holiday season early or just need a well-deserved break from studying, we have the event for you. We hope you enjoy this issue of the OIE "Friday Greetings" email.
OIE & CMU News & Events
Next week is International Education Week, and we're here to celebrate YOU! Whether you're an international student, part of an exchange program, or you are abroad right now; we want to hear what's made your international education experience special. Send us your stories or photos to be featured on OIE's social media next week, and keep an eye out for how you can participate in International Education Week and win a prize! If you would like to be featured, send us your OIE story at email@example.com.
As we inch closer to the holiday season and Winter Break, we want to share several important reminders for Travel Considerations. From pandemic-related updates and vaccination requirements to Travel Signatures and Thanksgiving closures, these tips and reminders will help prepare you for your holiday travel. OIE encourages community members considering international travel to assess their situations carefully in the months ahead and as plans are made for the upcoming winter break. For additional information to consider before traveling, check out our International Travel Considerations.

Phipps Holiday Magic! Winter Flower Show and Light Garden
The days might be getting shorter, and all the leaves might be falling, but it's always perfectly warm and bright at Phipps! Check out this wintertime staple, whether you want to get in the holiday spirit or just escape from the cold weather. The holiday season isn't complete without a visit to Phipps. Starting Friday, Nov. 19, and running through Sunday, Jan. 9, the Holiday Magic! Winter Flower Show will return to Phipps. This year's theme is Sparkle and Shine, with dazzling new displays of holiday trees, topiaries, exquisitely detailed props, including more than 1,600 poinsettias. Also, check out the Winter Light Garden for a stunning nighttime display. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Food Truck-A-Palooza is back! As one of the world's largest indoor food truck festivals happens right here every year. On Saturday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Monroeville Convention Center, you can taste the very best of Pittsburgh's food trucks. Check out the live music, entertainment, and holiday market while you snack on something tasty! Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 and do not include food-truck purchases.
The Black Cat Market
Need a break from studying? Check out The Black Cat Market, a great local cat café serving fantastic treats purr-fect for a study break. Grab a coffee and hang out with their adoptable cats just a short bus ride from campus at 5135 Penn Ave. These kittens are ready to play, and what better way to relieve some stress than sippin' on some coffee & soaking up sweet kittens! Open daily, and all are welcome.
