Student/Scholar Request for OIE Services

Continuing students and scholars, use the Student/Scholar Request for OIE Services for the following requests:

  • Travel signature for an I-20 or DS-2019
  • New I-20 or DS-2019 for replacement or correction
  • I-20 or DS-2019 for a spouse or child*
  • Travel letter (H-1B only) 
  • To drop off a request for signature on the OIE Social Security Number Form (.pdf)
    • Complete the form(s), print, and drop the materials off at OIE or email the form(s) directly to OIE's processing times for a new I-20 or DS-2019 is five business days, and three business days for a letter or signature.

Incoming students and scholars should receive the necessary paperwork to obtain their initial I-20 or DS-2019 from Undergraduate Admissions or their academic department. Please do not use the above form to obtain your initial I-20/DS-2019 immigration document.

Processing Times:
Do not wait until the last minute to request or process documents. Allow 5 business days for the preparation of new a new immigration document. Allow 3 business days for an advisor's signature on the I-20, DS-2019 or SSN form. The receptionist at the OIE front desk will tell you when you may return to pick up the document. If you do not allow enough time for processing, you can request an OIE mailing form; you may also be charged a late fee.

*OIE now uses eShip Global for the shipping of documents. 

You will need to:

  1. Log in to the eshipglobal link noted above –do not go through FedEx or UPS directly. (The link works best with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers).
  2. You will be required to register a new student account using your email and password.
  3. Enter your complete mailing address including postal code, phone number and email.
  4. You will need a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover only).
  5. Select Carnegie Mellon University, Office of International Education as the sender. Be careful NOT to select any other office location.
