Rashmi Vinayak and Yuanzhi Li have earned 2023 Sloan Research Fellowships in recognition of their research accomplishments. They are among 125 early career researchers from 54 institutions to receive the award from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Rashmi Vinayak(opens in new window) is an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department (CSD). Her current work focuses on increasing reliability and efficiency in robust data systems by combining information and coding theory. Phillip Gibbons(opens in new window), a professor in CSD and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, nominated Vinayak for the fellowship.

Yuanzhi Li(opens in new window) is an assistant professor in the Machine Learning Department (MLD). His work focuses on designing efficient and provable algorithms for practical machine learning problems, with an interest in deep learning theory and convex/nonconvex optimization. Roni Rosenfeld(opens in new window), a professor in MLD, the Computational Biology Department and the Language Technologies Institute, nominated Li for the award.
