Alex John London studies foundational issues in human research, the ethics of novel technologies including artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, issues of transnational social justice and methodological issues in theoretical and applied ethics. His research focuses on:
- ethics in research with humans including drugs and devices, novel surgeries and ethical issues in the design and conduct of clinical trials;
- international research ethics and conducting human research in the context of a public health emergency;
- medical ethics including medical decision making and end of life care;
- ethical issues in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems including driverless cars, bias in algorithms and the human impacts of automation.
