We would like to invite you to participate in the 16th U.S.-Korea Forum on Nanotechnology. The purpose of this Forum is to provide a common platform for researchers from both countries to engage in discussions  on emerging technologies that contribute to nanomedicine,  focusing on the single cell level; in addition, the Forum will also offer opportunities for discussion of sensors related to human cognition and brain research, where convergence research in nanotechnologies may provide critical solutions.

The United States (through the National Science Foundation) and Korea (through the Ministry of Science and ICT) have been vigorously supporting and encouraging a common platform for the exchange of ideas and for promotion of research collaborations in nanotechnology through this yearly Forum. These Fora are set up by the recommendation of the Korea-US joint committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation.  The first such forum was initiated 16 years ago. Since then, the locations of the Fora have alternated between Korea and the United States.

This forum will include 8 senior presenters and 8 additional early-career presenters from the U.S. and a roughly equal number of presenters from Korea. The Forum will actively encourage partnerships in nanotechnology as well as strengthen past achievements. It will also assess progress on recommendations made during previous Fora (www.cmu.edu/nanotechnology-forum). Each previous forum had a different emerging technology focus.

One of the objectives of this Forum is to promote exchange of researchers between the two countries in order to catalyze research collaborations, especially between early career scientists. The outcomes of the Forum are expected to lead to some recommendations with milestones that the governments of both countries could implement in areas where nanotechnology convergence research plays an important role.
