Sharan Rajani started out with a Bachelor’s of Engineering in Information Technology, out of great interest in programming and mathematics. While in the program, he explored his varied interests by pursuing internships in the fields of Software Development, Big Data, and Data Science over the course of four years. These experiences helped him navigate his interests, and soon led him to the field of Quantitative Finance. As a result, during his senior year, he joined Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune as a research intern, where he worked on asset-price modelling and data-driven option pricing. Following graduation, he joined OrangeQuant Research, an algo-trading prop shop, where he worked on devising medium and high frequency trading strategies for the Indian market. Sharan joined the MSCF program to hone his Quantitative skills, particularly in the areas of Bayesian Statistics, Machine Learning and Mathematical Finance. Upon completion of the program, he hopes to leverage his skills to uncover real-world phenomena that affect financial markets, thereby adding value to his company and making markets more efficient.
