Class of 2023
Abhishek Shah graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Toronto majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, and Finance. Abhishek’s curious nature and desire to learn led him to take a diverse range of courses such as Abstract Mathematics, Astronomy, Environmental Change, and Ethics. During his undergraduate experience, Abhishek had the opportunity to directly apply various quantitative skills acquired in the classroom to the financial services industry through summer internships at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and TD Asset Management. Following graduation, Abhishek’s enthusiasm, attention to detail, and collaborative attitude led to excellent results when he joined the Equity Derivatives Structuring Desk at RBC Capital Markets. His role as a Structurer involved pricing of exotic options and structured products, research and backtesting of complex derivative-based strategies, and development of thematic pitchbooks comprised of trade ideas relevant to the market environment. Former colleagues and supervisors have consistently highlighted the quality of Abhishek’s work and describe him as a reliable and poised young professional. After building a strong foundation in Stochastic Calculus and gaining exposure to advanced Machine Learning concepts during his time at Carnegie Mellon’s MSCF Program, Abhishek intends to pursue a career in quantitative trading, portfolio management, and/or quantitative research.
