Siyuan (Thomas) Li earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 2020 with triple majors in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science. He gained a solid foundation in mathematics methodologies, machine learning models, along with proficient programming skills during his undergraduate study. During his research, he utilized the Gaussian Mixture Model and the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to cluster a substantial amount of dataset and provided a powerful new algorithm with Bayesian statistical methods. While committed to achieving academic excellence, he has also sought out opportunities to apply his coursework in professional settings to gain valuable real-world experience. Thomas had several relevant internship experiences, covering asset management, data analytics, and quantitative trading strategy research, and greatly improved his communication skills during the internships. With a passion for quantitative finance, he joined the MSCF program to further enhance his keenly analytical skills and financial acumen. Upon completion of his graduate degree, Thomas intends to pursue a career as a quantitative strategist and financial data scientist.
