Min Sik (Michael) Kim

Class of 2022


Min Sik (Michael) Kim graduated Cum Laude from Seoul National University with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Environmental Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Statistics, and a minor in Financial Economics. Prior to joining the MSCF program, he worked on numerous projects examining complex data sets with various statistical methods including time series analysis, multivariate data analysis, and clustering analysis with Python and R programming. In his most recent project, he conducted Functional Principle Component Analysis on geographic time series data and implemented hierarchical clustering based on the PC functions to identify regions with similarities in the Ross Sea of Antarctica. In addition to statistics, he developed an in-depth understanding of various financial assets as well as the mathematical details of option pricing by taking advanced finance and mathematics courses. In the summer of his senior year, he interned at BDA Partners, a cross-border M&A advisory, where he actively engaged in live M&A deals by conducting financial statement analysis and comparable valuation. Michael is particularly interested in Quantitative Research, Quantitative Strategies, and Quantitative Trading, where he can apply quantitative models to solve real-world problems.
