Class of 2018
Dawei Zhang graduated from Boston University with highest honors, summa cum laude. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a track in statistics and a bachelor’s degree in economics with departmental honors. During his undergraduate study, he finished an independent research paper using regression models, focusing on Hong Kong’s performance in the 1997 Asian financial crisis. This research experience strengthened his analytical and problem-solving skills. By taking a Mathematics of Financial Derivatives course, Dawei used his knowledge of stochastic calculus, Brownian motion and mathematical skills to solve financial problems, which trigged his interest in quantitative finance. His summer internship at China Securities as an assistant proprietary trader also sparked his interest in trading. He joined the MSCF program to further explore his interest in the application of quantitative finance, pursuing a career in quantitative research, desk quant and algorithmic trading.
