Class of 2018
Alejandro Garrido earned a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering and a minor in mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin. The technical skills he received in the classroom were complemented by his participation and leadership role in the UT undergrad chapter of Toastmasters International. Reservoir Simulation was his favorite class, where as a senior he applied knowledge gained from his previous classes to model and optimize the performance of a multiphase reservoir. Once exposed to the oil and gas industry, Alejandro saw potential in the capitalization of undervalued assets. He explored these ideas as a reservoir engineering intern at an energy investment firm, where he created a program that automates the process of evaluating the performance of potential and existing wells in a hydrocarbon-bearing field. This motivated him to join the MSCF program in order to pursue a career in trading or asset management.
