These are some fundamental research questions that drive us. Of course, all of these questions are related. Generating non-intuitive mechanisms through an integrated design environment that incorporates materials, geometry, and control will help provide answers to how biology takes advantage of multiple materials and control to do complex tasks. Answers to how biology takes advantage of sensors to move through a complex world will influence how engineered mechanosensors can do the same for robotics.
