MetroLab Network Annual Summit 2018
The MetroLab Network Annual Summit is scheduled for October 15 & 16 at Hotel Indigo in Newark, NJ and the Summit is open for registration!
MetroLab Network, a spin-off of Carnegie Mellon University’s Metro21, was launched as part of the White House’s Smart Cities Initiatives in 2015. The national network is now made up of more than 35 regional partnerships between cities and universities that focus on research, development and deployment.
The partnerships within the MetroLab Network are mutually beneficial and unique to the city and universities strengths. With the city-university partnerships, faculty and students get access to the real-life laboratorie to test their approaches aimed at solving real-world problems, and the cities get the benefit of university research and technical expertise to solve these challenges.
Metro21 Executive Director, Karen Lightman, will be in attendance as the moderator the breakout session "Programs that Strengthen City/University Partnerships” on October 16 at 1:30 PM.
The panelist in the breakout session include:
- Jen Duthie, City of Austin
- Constantine Kontokosta, New York University
- Sarah Stone, University of Washington
- Emily Robbins, Boston University
The summit provides an opportunity for sponsors, academics, industry leaders and local officials who are the forefront of urban innovation to come together and explore current and potential partnerships. The Welcome Reception on Oct 14 is hosted on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo in Newark – and who doesn’t love talking urban development and smart technology on a rooftop?
