Orthopedic Interfaces

As orthopedic techniques continue to improve, more and more of the human body will be able to be replaced to combat the afflictions associated with joint deterioration. However, debris generation and subsequent osteolysis prevent long lasting solutions to minimize follow-up surgeries. This focus on resilient interfaces has made orthopedics a problem that is particularly dependent on the study of lubrication, friction, and wear (Tribology).

The PFTL currently performs experiments and modeling in order to investigate different techniques for mitigating the creation of debris in artificial joints, with the goal of promoting long lasting and low friction orthopedics.


Specific Projects
