Zero Emissions Day Can Be Every Day

September 21 is Zero Emissions Day but in the Department of Mechanical Engineering we're concerned about reducing emissions every day.

Here are a few faculty members who bike to campus regularly to reduce vehicle emissions and improve local air quality: Professors Shawn Litster (right), Steve Collins (below left), Maarten de Boer (below center), Fred Higgs and Alan McGaughey (bottom photo).

How else are we making an impact? We have a major research focus in energy and the environment where we investigate clean power systems, advanced vehicle technologies, air quality and renewable energy with engineers, scientists and collaborators from across the university and the world.
